Odds are 50/50 that they will shoot a 2 hour movie to wrap up the loose ends. Most likely it is not going to happen.

I had a feeling this (the cancel bug) was going to happen. Many of the story arcs disapointed me this season.

It was killed off before and found new life. Will this time be different or is this truly the end?

When they replayed it last night, they cut out Sammy's voiceover speech to Nate. Instead they just showed John getting up to turn off the generator.

I'll disagree a bit on the last point that the gas station attendant did not open the door to John at episode's end. I'm sure that we only saw her in a "stunned" state since she probably wasn't expecting a nearly naked cop to be banging on the door in the middle of the night.

I'll bet that if the scene played out 10 more minutes, we'd see the attendant call the local cops and the response team arrive to help out John.

***
Quick notes:

I'm in agreement that the Sammy/Tammy storyline is tired and should go.

The Ben storyline is also wearing out its welcome.

I like the dynamic between Lydia and her partner (Robinson) - even the baby storyline has improved to me.

This latest episode is the Emmy submission one for sure.

If they are trying for an EMMY, thats the episode to submit. I watched it at 10pm, the re-air at midnight, and twice from recordings of the midnight show. Still a little mad at the gas attendant who wouldn't answer John or let him in. As for his partner, yes, he admitted he made a mistake while they were tied up. And he kinda made some homophobic remarks to John. But no one 'deserves' to be tied up, brutalized, probably raped, and then shot and left for dead, I wouldn't even wish that on Dewey.
I read that next week Lydia tries to find the methheads.
Ben is really stupid, Sammy got 'justice' for Nates killers, he wont rest until he finds the 'burglar' that hurt the nanny and put his son in danger.

I fast forwarded most of the episode after they were kidnapped. Too ridiculous for me. As for the one who got shot, I didn't like his character anyway. Made a rookie mistake walking toward the back of the truck and the other officer should not have turned his back on the other meth freak.

Next week is the final episode for this season. It should be renewed. Hopefully with better stories next time. I do not like the lady detective with the baby story, the ex drama along with the video tape.

The funny part was seeing that big dude fall on the rebar. He shouldn't have run.

This past Wednesday's episode, "Chaos", was both really good and really disturbing. Shocking would be another descriptive.

Yet, for its dark subject matter, I watched it twice.

Next week's season finale is bittersweet since it means I'll have Southland withdrawals - but I'm hoping that, since it is the season finale (and not the SERIES finale), this is a good sign for renewal.

Its been renewed? The reports of new pilots from several cast members is exaggerated?
Did Ben really hire NKB to get the tape back, or was it just staged to look like they trashed Sammy's house?

Was the 'librarian' Kimmy Robertson or Victoria Jackson? As usual, the extras arent credited at IMDb.

Tammy wasnt even there and she's giving Sammy panic attacks at work.

The irony of John is in his encounter with his former boot, it seemed like the first season where he was drinking and addicted to pain pills, and though he has done so well last season, meeting him in the bar Ben probably thinks nothing has changed since he had to cover for an underpar John.

I'd agree with sdm6061 that it was indeed an "ouch" moment: the scene where John and his partner go to the check-cashing place and John ends up falling on his back while wrestling with the agitated guy.

Glad to hear the doctor's diagnosis that it should be fine.

And, yes, hearing Sammy call Victor to pass along a message to Tammy that he's sorry was even worse. I actively dislike Tammy for all her whining and scheming.

I ignored Boston's Finest the first week, but have turned toward it as network TV continues to be more interested in reruns...its not bad.
The encounter with the criminal on John's back was painful to watch. As was the phone call to Victor.

The new season is a few episodes in - but it still bears repeating that this is a solid show. I wish the season was longer; I dislike these "seasons" that stop at 6 episodes.

Back to the topic of the repeating episodes: I haven't cottoned to the "Boston's Finest" show that comes on immediately before Southland then airs its repeat right after each new Southland episode.

Thank goodness for Comcast's On Demand service so I can watch it the next day again. And, fast forward through the commercials. :)

I cannot wait until Southland comes back - but every season seems to be too short.

They need to keep production rolling throughout the year.

I have now seen it a couple of times...is it the season finale or the series finale? It sort of glossed over some of the events. The situations with Ben and Jessica were resolved. Lydia's situation troubles me, last week it was hinted that she had some injury to her stomach, but this week I guess she was hunky dory and she only chose to cool it because of emotional damage to the fetus, not the physical impact of her job? And where was her partner? I guess Sammy mostly has a broken arm, last week I thought he would be in critical condition. THERE WERE NO SCENES FROM LAST WEEK. My spouse thought (said) they were trying to pretend last week didn't happen, or at minimum de-emphasize the mini cliffhangers of the episode.

I need to rewatch it fully (I kept catching the last 10 min) but last week's episode had more cliffhangers than this season finale. The last 10 minutes seemed rather calm, with everyone turning out ok, for the most part (unless it was a dream sequence with Sammy in the pool next to Ben, and Lydia confessing her pregnancy to the father).

Last season Sammy went through so much with the divorce and partner's death. He's becoming an insensitive jerk now...is that how Dewey got the way he is?

It seemed a lot choppier and fast paced this time, though I sorta cheered when LDP got randomly attacked (mostly because of his attitude). It was good but I dont remember as many of those moments last season.

I'm a recent convert to "Southland" - catching it now in its third season and on TNT. Love this show.

I've ordered Season 1 from Amazon so I can catch up - and when Season 2 comes out on DVD, I'm buying it.

Very very glad that TNT picked this series up.

I gotta admit that when the gritty cop, I think his name is John Cudlits, woke up in bed next to a guy it blew my mind.

While I anticipated an officer getting shot, that result was out of left field...and I guess he is really dead because the scenes from next week discuss his funeral. I guess I understand Tammy sort of being off camera (so she can cozy up to 'Paul Young') but I am wondering what his partner did to get killed off. Probably nothing, but it just is such a blow to watch that stuff sometimes.
