Do us all a favor and do what I do. Avoid the stations that post their low cash price on the prominent sign and if they post the credit price at all, it is on some small sign you don't see until you are in the station lot. This should be especially true for the stations who don't mention whether it is cash or credit on the big sign. If enough of us do this, the practice will go away.

not a problem in my area. all prices are posted same size. one problem in come cities is they have mandated teh signs be like no more than 40 above the ground. Heck it hard enough to see the station much less the prices..that why i use gasbuddy..

Belongs in the BOYCOTT forum.

This SITE has NO way to change stations signs. Their programs don't connect to the electronic signs :-P, nor do they control members cars to prevent them from getting gas at a particular station.

This was posted by a "champion author" so those that complain about some of the newbies - there are probably newbies that make good posts and obviously champions that make bad posts. One size shoe doesn't fit all.

The OP can join up over there with these guys:

There are stations that sell E85 fuel and have that price in the largest numbers, until you get close enough to read the fine print. I refuse to buy gas there on principal.

What ticks me off is where they only post the "discount with car wash" price.
Which is typically 10 cents under the REAL cash price.

What deceptive signage are you talking about? I ask because I haven't seen it.

You wrote:

I would think that most places would post the low price more prominently than other prices; after all, isn't the purpose of a business to attract customers? That said, I can't think of any gas station in the last several years driving up and down the east coast that posts a cash price on the overhead signs that doesn't indicate that it's a cash price if the station is either cash only or has a different credit price. Most station operators don't want try to trick customers because they won't get the customer back, or the word of mouth will drive away other or potential customers.

Some states or locales have a requirement that if prices are posted, they must be the same size numerals. But, as I said, I can't think of a station that intentionally tries to deceive customers about prices. They might not show all the prices, but they don't deceive.

Are you saying that this is a large or continuing problem?
